Georgian Animators Take Top Prize in Pink Floyd Anniversary Challenge
Georgian animators Rati Dabrundashvili and Nastassja Nikitina have won a competition devoted to the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s legendary album The Dark Side of the Moon. The competition was to create music videos for the songs on the album, as part of an attempt to combine Pink Floyd classic music with completely novel visual concepts. The panel consisted of Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, creative director Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell, and the British Film Institute (BFI).
This is a huge win, underscoring the universal appeal of Pink Floyd’s music and the excellence of Georgian animation. The high originality of the stories and their correlation to the essence of the songs drew attention and became a moment of pride for the artists and the country on the international stage.
