Kutaisi International Short Film Festival
The 4th Kutaisi International Short Film Festival will be held from October 4 to 9. Over the course of six days, the festival will host a wide range of programs in Cinema Sakartvelo. In addition to film screenings and retrospectives, the program includes masterclasses, workshops, discussions, and presentations.
This year’s competition program features 25 films, including works that have participated in and won awards at festivals such as Cannes, Locarno, Sundance, Toronto, Trieste, and Clermont-Ferrand, among others. An international jury will select winners in three categories: Best Film, best Director, Best Cinematographer.
The jury is chaired by Barbara Lorey de Lacharrière, a FIPRESCI member, film critic, and journalist. Jury members include actor and director Tornike Gogrichiani, actress Eka Chavleishvili, cinematographer Archil Akhvlediani, and director Ramazan Kılıç.
This year’s guest of honor is Marisa Paredes, a renowned star of Spanish and international cinema. Festival attendees will have the opportunity to watch films featuring her and attend a public meeting with the actress.
Joining her will be José María Prado, a Spanish producer. This year, Spain is the festival’s focus country, represented by special guest actress Eva Siva.
This year’s director in focus is one of the most important figures in contemporary cinema, Pedro Almodóvar, whose 75th anniversary will be celebrated with a retrospective of his films. Additionally, the festival will showcase the works of Emma Cohen, continuing its tradition of highlighting the contributions of women filmmakers to the development of world cinema.
